Arrive without a car
Bus Éireann connects Dundalk, Greenore, Carlingford, Omeath and Newry. In Carlingford, use the Tourist Office stop or the stop opposite it for the return direction; the hotel is a short walk into Market Street.
For Sundays, public holidays, disruptions and the last bus home, check the operator and TFI journey planner. The published summary above covers weekdays and Saturdays. Leave time between connections, especially for a flight or train.
The last leg matters
Carlingford has no railway station. Plan an onward bus or pre-booked taxi from Dundalk or Newry; railway stations and bus stations are separate locations.
Dundalk Clarke is on the Dublin–Belfast rail corridor. From the station, arrange a taxi to the hotel or transfer to Long Walk bus station for Route 161. Allow time for the transfer rather than assuming a through connection.
Rail times & station detailsCheck Bus Éireann Route 100X for a coach to Dundalk, then connect with Route 161 at Long Walk. Use your flight date in the planner and allow for baggage collection. For an arrival after the last connection, arrange a transfer in advance.
Route 100X informationUse Translink to plan travel to Newry, then check Route 161 onwards to Carlingford. If arriving by train, Newry railway station is outside the city centre; plan the transfer to the bus station or book a taxi for the remaining journey.

From Dublin, follow the M1 north and take Junction 18 towards Carlingford and the Cooley Peninsula. From Belfast, travel towards Newry, then follow directions via Omeath to Carlingford. Use the hotel map pin for the final approach to Market Street.
We are in a medieval village centre. On-street parking is subject to availability and local restrictions; a space is not reserved with your room. Check signs, keep entrances clear and contact reception about luggage drop-off or mobility needs before arrival.
Open driving directionsMake the journey part of the break
The Greenore–Greencastle ferry links the Cooley and Mourne shores. It can make a lovely part of a coastal drive, but Greenore is outside Carlingford village: check sailing status, vehicle or passenger arrangements and onward transport before choosing this route.
Ferry timetable & sailing updatesBook ahead for airport transfers, evenings and group journeys. Confirm the fare, collection point, child seats and accessible vehicle requirements directly with the provider.
Local taxi directoryBefore you arrive
Yes. Shops, restaurants and medieval sights are within the village. For the Greenway, choose a distance you can comfortably return from. Beaches, golf courses and ferry terminals need additional transport; plan your return before leaving.
Contact reception with your arrival time and access needs before travelling. We can discuss the most suitable room and approach to the hotel. Please check the arrangements with us rather than assuming every room or village route has step-free access.
Tell us the children’s ages, luggage and travel plans when you enquire. We can help you choose a room and discuss arrival arrangements; confirm child seats separately with any taxi operator.
